We will help you have an amazing outdoor adventure. We have over 30 years of outdoor experience and a lifelong passion for the outdoors – let us guide and support your group to ensure you have an unforgettable experience at Fineshade Wood. We provide a range of activities in bushcraft and environmental education in partnership with the Forestry Commission. We aim to help more people learn about sustainable forestry through outdoor education, to ensure that our activities today have a positive impact on UK woodlands for future generations to use and enjoy.

What We Provide

  • For Schools:
    Curriculum linked education sessions for KS1 and KS2. Outdoor learning with hands on practical activities such as fire lighting, bug hunting, shelter building and habitat exploration.
  • For Pre-Schoolers:
    Baby Bushcraft! An introduction to the outdoors, wild play and woodland exploration
  • For Families:
    ‘Go Wild’ spring and autumn events aimed at 6 years old and over. Learn about fire-craft, shelter, finding water, knife skills, navigation and finding food
  • For Adults:
    Bushcraft workshops during spring and autumn covering all basic elements of survival.

    Tailored to suit your wild needs! Can include bushcraft skills, bug hunting, campfire cooking and wild art
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme:
    Our site is an ideal base for Bronze level expeditions. We’ll help you plan an unforgettable and successful adventure
  • Youth Inclusion Projects:
    We are looking for local secondary schools and youth groups to partner with in Autumn 2018 who want to take part in our ‘rewilding’ project. This funded project will reconnect young people to their local wild spaces.
  • Over Night Camping
    Bring your group to camp overnight in one of our 6 Danish Shelters. Experience our cosy Danish Shelters as an alternative to pitching a tent. Each shelter sleeps up to 6 adults or 8 children. We have 3 sited in Fineshade Wood and 3 sited 10 miles away in Fermyn Wood

Facilities on site:

  • Composting Toilet
  • Water provided for all booked events
  • Designated fire pit with firewood for sale

The Forestry Commission provide a range of facilities at Fineshade Wood within ten minutes walk from our site including refreshments, guided trails, cycle hire and visitor centre with toilets.
